PCIT is an evidence-based treatment for young children with behavioral
problems.
PCIT is conducted through coaching sessions during which you and your child
are observed and coached by the professional. You will need to wear an ear-
pod where the therapist provides coaching and feedback about the present
situation that is happening.
PCIT is done across two treatment phases. The first phase of treatment focuses on
establishing warmth in your relationship with your child through learning and applying
skills proven to help children to regulate themselves.
The second phase of treatment you will learn how to manage your child’s defiant/difficult
behavior. It his phase the coach will teach you different strategies in how to manage
your child’s behavior. You will learn and apply strategies that involves healthy limits,
direct commands, clear rules, etc.
